Description
Bias correction method, can/should we collect information about this with the questionnaire.
Dear Eric and Bryan,
The Decadal Climate Prediction Panel (DCPP) has recently decided that in addition to the raw model output of monthly
surface air temperature
sea surface temperature
precipitation rate
mean sea level pressure
upper ocean heat content (upper 300 m).
these 5 variables should also be "bias corrected" and made available for use.
The attached document describes this.
You'll note that at the end it indicates that groups should also supply a clear description of the bias correction method used (and data sets used). I have proposed that the following sentences be added to that document:
"This information should be included in the "history" attribute attached to each of the bias corrected variables. In addition a request has been made to collect this information from modeling groups using the so-called "METAFOR questionnaire."
Can this be included in the METAFOR questionnaire? I don't think there is a lot of urgency, but perhaps in a few months???
Best wishes for your holidays,
Karl
