mandatory and optional parts of the questionnaire grid questions

Could you let me know what is mandatory in the grid part of the questionnaire and what is optional. I need this to be able to tell if someone has completed the page or not.

For example, must people provide a value for "latMin"?

Hi Rupert,

For mandatory elements in the CIM this is my first guess:

Top-level :

• shortName
• mnemonic ;-)

Horizontal properties:

• GridDiscretization
• GridResolution
• GridRefinement
• GridType

Vertical properties:

• VerticalCoordinateType
• VerticalCoordinate
• all attributes of Extent (*)

(*) may be difficult given that it depends on the medium: atmosphere or ocean on which the grid applies to... you should declare the Extent complete in case1: the 4 attributes of atmos are provided OR case2: the 4 attributes of ocean are provided)

Can you perform any of these tests in the Questionnaire or should the validation do all of them? Can you ticket Paul on any that you think should be done in the validation.

Hi Rupert,

I can do part of these on the questionnaire front end, but those that are more tied to the mindmap content will have to be done at the validation step. I'll work out what I can do and send a list to Paul for the others.

a list would be great. Paul already has the constraint checking sorted for grids.

The current validation rules check for the presence of LatMin?, LatMax? &c. and complain if they are absent, so those elements are already dealt with. Same for all of the mandatory elements above, including the dependencies they introduce.

Sounds like Paul has most (all?) things covered although it would be better if the simple presence checks could be picked up by the Questionnaire directly.
