Hightlight mandatory fields with a highly visible border. A major advantage of this method is that it is an obvious marker but doesn't use extra screen real estate.

The Geonetwork interface to the CIM highlights mandatory fileds with a bold red border. The border changes to the default setting once the field has been given some input.

Is it possible to use this technique to communicate the mandatory fields to users in the questionnaire?

Nevertheless we need some method of highlighting mandatory fields if not with a border perhaps with an asterix (by Toutatis!)

this would be nice, but a 1.1. thing I think (we know how to do it now at least)

If you hit return in a text box it will highlight all the mandatory fields.  Perhaps we can tell users about this "feature" to help them with the questionnaire.

Now we have sorted out the re-ordering problem in the questionnaire can we re-enable the return key?  This will allow us to display all the mandatory fields and close this ticket.
