Description (last modified by mariepierre) (diff)

This ticket deals with definitions of terms used in the Software mindmaps.

Once harvested, the vocabulary must have clear definitions attached to it. This is the second step (after agreement on the words used and on their place in the mindmap's trees) on the way to a standard.

Metafor has to propose definitions that will pass in a next step though an approval procedure.

Metafor and Curator will work together to get ensured the definitions are suitable for both.

Relatively to the CIM, the vocabulary defined here is what we call the externally governed CV that will go into the CIM enumeration lists.

The associated wiki page has been split into 8 pages, one for each of the main model components:

Identified issue : Unifying the way we write definitions

  1. Unify definitions for transversal parameters (the former "reusable concepts")
  2. Try to limit the usage of the query form
  3. Avoid instruction turn of phrase

2 and 3 don't matter for inputs in the questionnaire but probably not required for cataloging purpose (as for ESG).

Definitions still missing for the following 3 OceanBiogeoChemistry parameters:

  • UpperTrophicLevel (in OceanBioTracers)
  • PH-scale (in CarbonChemistry)
  • ChemicalConstantsForCarbonateChemistry (in CarbonChemistry)

Eric, I don't even know what is expected for the first; I guess the second is the "type of PH-scale used by the carbon chemistry scheme"; Is the third expecting units?

Do we need a review of these definitions before we release the questionnaire to beta testers?

The review of the definitions is in stand-by since a long time... We were expecting the set-up of a governance...

Anyway it would be fine to have a sanity check before release. I can go through them for a third round, but unfortunately my French distortion is heavy :-/

I'll give the definitions an English check before we release.

Thanks to take time for this Charlotte.

Just let me a little more time for updating the definition tables in the wiki pages.

But before that I will certainly have to migrate definitions I have attached to values (in drop-down menus of a given parameter) to the parameter level, otherwise it does not appear (nor in the Qnaire, nor in the definitions tables). I'm currently waiting for Rupert/Gerry? confirmation of that..

Marie-Pierre.
