Dear Colleagues,
are planning a session on "Earth System Modelling: Strategies and Software" at the EGU 2009 to be held in Vienna.
As it was already the case last year the session will be listed in the "Earth & Space Science Informatics" section.
For 2009 we thought about populating an oral session with invited presentations covering the key topics in this area. Based on our experience with the organizers from the last couple of years it will be hard to get more time (and space) than for 90 minutes or 6 oral presentations with 15 minutes for each presentation.
This year we would like to start the planning as early as possible. We would like to ask for your feedback if you were willing/able to attend the conference and give an oral presentation on a selected topic. In case you would not be able to participate in person in the planning we would be very delighted if you could identify other persons (plus topic to be represented by this person) to us.
General topics to be covered could be
Topics are just tentative, subject to discussion and likely to be extended and changed. This should just serve to initiate the discussion.
All themes in this session should closely be related to numerical modelling, coupled climate models, or Earth system models. There will be other special sessions where one or the other aspects may be covered in a more general way as well, like
If we come up with appealing programme of general interest we may try to argue for more than 90 minutes time. As 15 minutes are quite a short time for an overview presentation there is of course the option to further detail the specific themes in the poster session.
Thank you very much in advance for your early feedback and collaboration.
With best regards,
Reinhard + Rene
