Design survey to determine the datasets one would wish to include in the testing of the project.
Will depend on the use cases we wish to test.
Questions to ask:
Number and size of datasets to include: i.e. full IPCC datasets, subset of scenarii, partial list of variables?
Certainly need more than one simulation with each model to fully test the use cases and at least two configuration for some models
Include regional runs (Meteo-France), AMMA, ensemble runs?
Require variables from IPCC datasets to force regional models, offline models (tracers, carbon cycle, biogeochemistry, ice sheets, ...)?
Include operationnal models (ECMWF, Mercator, ...)?
Be careful of forcing data (CO2 emissions, concentration, volcano eruption, etc ...)
Aspects of quality control ?
Do we need to include external descriptions of observations for comparison purposes?
