Description

Dear M8t4-ists

The poll is in and the decision is unanimous! The first monthly METAFOR Steering Committee (SC) teleconference will be on Thursday, April 23, 2008. It is expected to last about an hour, as it will be well past Eric's bedtime. Your time for the teleconference is as follows:
9am (UK)
10am (France, Germany)
11am (Romania)
10pm (USA HI)

The telecom will be lead by Eric. WP Leaders and a representative from the other partners are expected to attend:
WP Leaders:
  WP1 Eric Guilyardi
  WP2 Lois Steenman-Clark
  WP3 Laurent Fairhead (IPSL, France)
  WP4 Bryan Lawrence (BADC, UK
WP5 Allyn Treshansky (UK Met Office)
  WP6: Michael Lautenschlager

A representative from the other partners:
ANM - ??
CERFACS - ??
ISPL - Laurent
CLIMPACT - ??
MPI - Michael
METEO France
BADC - Bryan
U Manchester - ??
U Reading - Eric and Lois
UK Met - Allyn

Project Office = Katherine

Would those partners with a ?? next to their name please email me with the name/email of the person expected to attend the Apr 23 teleconference. Also, if your name is listed but you will not be attending, please let me know of who will be filling in for you,

For this first SC telecon we will be using the PRISM Genesys teleconferencing system. Eric will email the list with details on how to telephone in and connect to the telecon.

As you saw from previous emails, Reinhard and Hans, along with DFN, are offering a web based system which they, Eric and I have tested and which seems to work very well and pretty easily. However - it is web based - that is it requires access to a PC, MAC, Linux or Solaris box, requires a IE, Firefox or Mozilla, requires Flash Player 8 or higher, speakers or a headphone, a microphone - and if you want, a webcam. There is the possibility of using a telephone to call in if you have no access to the Web, but it has not yet been enabled.

After the SC telecom, there will be an opportunity to help test out this DFN system. An email on how to connect to that system will also follow. The advantage of the DFN system is 1) its free 2) its got a nice whiteboard and desktop and documents sharing system 3) its video (which may or may not be an advantage depending on the state of your hair that day)

See/hear you then - Katherine

emailed eric reminder

Eric
Could you email the list – or me – instructions on how to call in to the genesys prism account for the teleconference next week? And an agenda is required for the meeting as well.
Thanks
Katherine

We will get back to you on this.
